1. Acceptance of these terms
By reading, browsing or linking to this website you agree to these terms of use. If any part of them does not suit you, please stop using the site. These terms apply to every page published under the Candi & Clove name, including the flavor journal, the interactive tasting tools and the archive.
2. An editorial publication
Candi & Clove is a confectionery lifestyle magazine and flavor guide. Everything here — the tasting notes, technique write-ups, temperature tables and workshop stories — is published for interest, education and enjoyment. It is not a product catalogue, a shop front, or a professional consulting service.
3. Permitted use
You are welcome to:
- read, print and share our pages for personal, non-commercial use;
- quote short passages with clear attribution and a link back to the page;
- use our temperature and texture guide as a kitchen reference while you cook.
You may not republish substantial portions of the text or illustrations commercially, present our writing as your own, or use our name and atelier marks in a way that suggests an endorsement, partnership or affiliation that does not exist.
4. Intellectual property
The text, layout, hand-built illustrations, atelier mark and site design are owned by Candi & Clove Confection Atelier and are protected by copyright and design law. The illustrations on this site were drawn specifically for these articles; they are artistic interpretations rather than photographs of specific products.
For permission requests beyond the permitted use above, email atelier.candiandclove@gmail.com with the subject line "Permissions".
5. No shop, no orders
This website does not sell anything. There is no basket, no checkout, no price list, no subscription and no payment form. Anything that looks like a flavor description is editorial writing. Any enquiry about visiting the atelier or stocking our confections is handled by ordinary email conversation, never through this site.
6. Cooking at your own risk
Sugar work involves very hot syrups, sharp shards and equipment that can burn. Our technique articles describe how we work in our own kitchen with our own tools. They are not a substitute for proper equipment, adult supervision, or your own judgement about heat, ventilation and safety.
If you cook from our notes, you do so at your own risk. Please read our editorial disclaimer for the full explanation of what our content is and is not.
7. Prohibited conduct
- Attempting to disrupt, overload or probe the site or its hosting environment.
- Scraping the site at volume, or reproducing it wholesale by automated means.
- Using the site to distribute malware, spam or misleading material.
- Impersonating the atelier or its staff in correspondence.
- Framing or mirroring the site in a way that hides its origin.
8. Availability & changes
We keep this journal online as a reference, but we do not promise uninterrupted access. Pages may be edited, moved or retired as the archive grows. These terms may be updated from time to time; the revision date at the top of the page will always reflect the current version.
9. Disclaimers
The site and its content are provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Tasting is subjective: a note one person finds bright, another may find sharp.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Candi & Clove Confection Atelier and the people who write for it will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of this site or from reliance on its editorial content, including any loss connected with cooking or sugar work undertaken after reading it.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by conversation will be handled in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina.
12. Contact
Questions about these terms are welcome at atelier.candiandclove@gmail.com, or by post to Candi & Clove Confection Atelier, 214 River Arts Lane, Asheville, North Carolina 28801, United States.
